Inspired by the history of painting, I lean into elements such as Baroque art to examine composition, colour, and the new narratives which develop in my paintings. My recent work explores movement and energy through abstracting figurative elements in large scale oil paintings. The swirling and jubilant energy of the work often sits in contrast to, and questions the violent tone of the historical paintings I am referencing.
